In 2019, the total revenue of the recorded music industry amounted to 21.5 billion U.S. dollars. Streaming made up 56 percent of this figure, bringing in 11.9 billion dollars globally. Spotify is one of the most successful music streaming platforms worldwide. Reportedly, 40,000 new songs are added to the platform every day, and so far, over 50 million tracks available. To make your browsing easier and quicker, I gathered 5 playlists that everyone should listen to on Spotify. From my favorite fashion show to genre-less and fashionable Martini tracks.
Genre-lees. Quality first. Always
If you had to follow only one playlist to get all the best music – follow Pollen. Bold, expressive, time-stopping tracks in one place. As Spotify describes it, “Genre-less. Quality first always”, I could not have put it better myself. This really is THE place – you can hear The XX and Tyler, the Creator or The Gorillaz and Frank Ocean, Jorja Smith, or Thundercat. This is my favorite place to check new artists. By the way, visual design for this playlist was created by a super-cool agency called: Porto Rocha.
Girl in the suburbs wanting to rebel
I love everything about England. Traditions, sense of humor, style, and, of course, music. There is no other girl but one and only Alexa Chung. My favorite personal fashion icon with perfect bangs and British style. In 2017 she launched a clothes brand named by herself. 2020 Autumn collection “Suburban Punk” followed by Chung curated playlist with tracks from rock icon Patti Smith to the Sex Pistols.
Hotel with exceptional music taste
While being in stay-cation, I miss the most beautiful places to travel to and hotels to stay in the most. Want to feel like you are sitting in a perfect temperature hotel lobby and having a dry Martini (shaken, not stirred)? Listen to the most fashionable Paris hotel, Hotel Costes playlist. A little getaway wherever you are.
Slow Sunday
How do you start your Sunday morning? By having a fresh croissant and coffee? Or spinning around the house in P.J.? Jessie Ware (amazing U.K. singer, I can’t stop listening to her since “Wildest moment” was released in 2012) made a fantastic selection for your Sundays. It truly is a gem, start your weekend with slow rock and roll from BADBADNOTGOOD to a legend Gil Scott-Heron.
P.S.I highly recommend Jessie Ware and her mom podcast “Table Manners,” where while having a meal, they talk to artists like Ed Sheeran, Jamie Cullum, Dua Lipa, and others.
The Big Little Soundtrack
“The Big Little Lies” is a must-see show, not only because of the excellent cast: Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, Reese Witherspoon (she’s also a boss lady at the production company of the show) but because of the soundtrack. This is how we fell in love with Michael Kiwanuka’s “Cold Little Heart” (opening title song). While watching the series, I was shazaming almost every song, even I heard/knew most of them in the back of my mind. You can just enjoy the show and listen to the full soundtrack of 2 seasons oldies and goodies.
